RTP180: History Behind It…
About RTP180
Innovation. Education. Industry. These are powerful angles—and what Research Triangle Park is known for. At RTP180, speakers from our founding Universities, Park companies and the North Carolina community at-large, are called upon to speak passionately and authentically about what matters to them. The twist? They must do it in 5 minutes or less!
We ask our speakers to be intentional with their 300 seconds on stage. What perspective of their industry are they able to share? What are their passions? What would our community be surprised to learn? What case studies in North Carolina are cutting edge?
This Month
This month we are bringing in the experts to present their unique take on the untold histories of events, people, places, and innovations that have dramatically shaped our world. Our speakers will share the stories behind Research Triangle Park, the AIDS crisis in North Carolina, black women in the beer industry, and organ donations. Join us to learn about these diverse and fascinating topics.
Prior to the start of the show, join us at 5:00 p.m. for refreshments and networking. We’ve got a diverse lineup of folks for you to visit with! Travis Crayton, Research Triangle Foundation’s VP of Planning and Public Policy, can fill you in on the RTP’s history and future. While two of Frontier RTP’s earliest and longest tenants, DTS Language Services, Inc. and Cloud Giants, will be on hand to share how having their headquarters in the heart of RTP has shaped their growth. Plus, visit with representatives from the Museum of Durham History to learn about Durham’s rich heritage, and don’t miss the opportunity to chat with the Raleigh Historic Development Commission (RHDC) to discover fascinating insights into Raleigh’s history and preservation efforts.
When you come early, we will have complimentary popcorn, beer from Fullsteam RTP, wine selections from RTP Uncorked, and spirit-free drinks.
