On the Menu: Things I Should Have Said: The Conversations Entrepreneurs Keep Swallowing
Session Description
On the Menu is turning up the volume with Dr. Rita Renee — 2x TEDx speaker, executive voice strategist, and best-selling author of 14 books — for a session unlike anything we’ve served before. This isn’t a workshop about your marketing, your pitch, or your funding. It’s about the sentences you never said — and what they’re quietly costing you.
The client you should have fired. The price you should have held. The “partner” you should have questioned. The family member you never told how hard this really is. Every entrepreneur is carrying a list of unsaid things — and the bill comes anyway.
Here’s how it works.
The same boldness it takes to start a business somehow disappears in our most important conversations. Dr. Rita Renee unpacks why — the image trap, the relationship tax, and the scarcity whisper that convinces you the “yes” might never come again — and reveals what all that swallowing is really costing your margins, your boundaries, your health, and your self-trust.
But this is not a sit-and-listen session. Your phone stays out (you’ll need it), the room gets honest fast, and the anonymous live polls will show you something powerful: you are not the only one carrying this. Through her signature OWN Method™ — Own It, Word It, Name the Moment — Dr. Rita Renee walks you from the sentence you’ve been avoiding to the sentence you’re finally ready to say.
Then comes the moment this session is built around: pens up. Every participant writes the one sentence they’ve been swallowing, with their name and a date on it. A brave voice or two will read theirs out loud. The room will never forget it.
You’ll walk back to work lighter than you walked in.
Participants will:
- Name the specific conversation they’ve been avoiding — with a client, a price, a partner, or the people they love
- Uncover the three hidden reasons bold entrepreneurs go silent, and the real cost of staying muted
- Learn the OWN Method™, a three-step framework for saying hard things with clarity and kindness
- Leave with their unsaid sentence written down, dated, and ready to be spoken within 7 days
Due to the interactive nature of this event, it will be hosted exclusively in person. Bring a pen. You’ll be writing one down.

What’s On The Menu?
At Frontier RTP, we are constantly growing, and hope you will come along for the ride! We developed On the Menu as a way of helping you and your business grow to the next level, whatever that next level may be.
Each month, we offer a lunchtime workshop on a special topic related to small businesses or startups. On the Menu is taught by a diverse group of experts from around the Triangle (some of whom started their business here at Frontier RTP!) in a small group setting.
Our hope is that these workshops will not only be rich in content, but spark dialogue, start relationships, and make your lunch break meaningful. Did we mention there will be free lunch?
We want you to easily access our events. Please reach out to us with accommodation requests at programming@rtp.org and we’ll do our best to facilitate.
