Growing Technology Company Relocates to Fuel Expansion
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — DZone Inc., provider of online communities that empower developers, has announced it will relocate from its Cary, N.C. office to The Frontier campus in the Research Triangle Park (RTP) on September 1, 2018. The company currently employs 65 people, and will take 20,000 sq ft in Building 600, the newest Frontier building to be activated.
Founded in 2005, DZone has been recognized in the Inc. 5000 list for fastest-growing companies for four consecutive years. To accelerate that growth, in October 2017, the company received a strategic investment from SFW Capital Partners, a specialized private equity firm that invests in the middle market across the information value chain with a particular focus on information, software, and analytical instrumentation. DZone also recently named experienced technology company leader Matt Tormollen as its new Chief Executive Officer. Tormollen has been adding to the leadership team to help expand the company’s product offerings and grow its reputation as a leader in the global developer ecosystem.
“DZone is focused on empowering developers to build better products, and empowering companies to create engaging developer communities,” says Tormollen. “Given the mission of The Frontier and the energy of its community, we’ll be ideally situated to mutually benefit from our new location.”
Serving more than 3.5 million developers per month, DZone.com is one of the world’s largest online communities of knowledge resources for software developers. Its cloud-based product AnswerHub enables tech companies like Amazon, GE, IBM, and Microsoft to deliver targeted developer ecosystems for over 10 million users.
Though RTP has always been home to larger science and technology companies with an emphasis on research and development, DZone’s move to The Frontier continues a recent trend of small- and medium-sized businesses moving to the Park. “Since its inception in 2015, The Frontier has been a place that offers value, fosters collaboration, and builds community for innovative companies of all sizes. DZone will engage and support this expanding venture,” says Scott Levitan, President and CEO of the Research Triangle Foundation (RTF). “We look forward to seeing DZone and The Frontier grow together.” The Frontier is developed and managed by RTF.
DZone will join another innovation-focused organization, the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED), in Building 600. Designed specifically for growing and emerging companies, Building 600 features a new state-of-the-art training room, as well as shared conference areas and collaborative meeting spaces for tenants, and a cafe with vending options. A range of office types and sizes are still available—visit The Frontier leasing page for more information.
The DZone leasing agreement was brokered by Cushman & Wakefield. Dennis Hurley, Hillman Duncan, and Patti Autry represented both parties in the transaction.
