We launched Coworker of the Month in November 2017 to give back to our community and recognize their hard work. Coworker of the Month will receive a dedicated workspace, a prized parking spot for the whole month, and a Frontier goodie bag.
To nominate a Coworker of the Month, fill out this form and let us know why they deserve the title!
Our Coworker for the Month of May is: Kelly Barber-Lester
Meet Kelly Barber-Lester, our May 2018 Coworker of the Month. She has been coming to The Frontier regularly since February, but was first introduced to the space at a Happy Hour in 2017. She is described by her fellow coworkers as a Hufflepuff who fights oppression.
A soon-to-be Ph.D., Kelly is currently a doctoral candidate at UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Education. She is specializing her research in Learning Sciences and Psychological Studies, and conducts her studies in middle grades science education and culturally relevant pedagogy. Her last hurdle, the dissertation, is on life-history research, which dives into white teachers and understanding their paths of critical consciousness development over their life courses.
We asked her a few questions:
What’s your favorite 90s show?
This is a tough question because there were many wonderful TV show’s in the 90s. Since I have to pick, I will go with “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.” Best theme song EVER.
If you could know the absolute and total truth to one question, what question would you ask?
How do we end white supremacy?
If peanut butter wasn’t called peanut butter, what would it be called?
Wonder Paste :)
