Hey there! My name is Caitlin Moss and I am the Community Coordinator here at The Frontier. We are proud to be launching a new program called “Coworker of the Month” which will allow us to give back to our loyal first floor community. Although our community is always changing and growing, we have a solid group of loyal “Frontier Ambassadors” that are committed to The Frontier’s success.
Coworker of the Month will receive a dedicated workspace, a prized parking spot for the whole month, and a Frontier goodie bag! Know someone deserving of this prize? Nominate them!
Our Coworker for the month of November is: CHRIS LYSY
Chris Lysy embodies the ideal Frontier coworker. When I first started working here, Chris was the first person to introduce me to the community. He is active in our community and in regular events, such as One Million Cups RTP. I can always trust on Chris to suggest ideas to better The Frontier!
Check out our small Q&A to learn more about Chris:
How did you find The Frontier and how long have you been coming here?
I’ve been coming here for about a year and half I heard about The Frontier through an association I was involved in who held a meeting in Fusion (conference room on first floor), I worked close by and heard about Happy Hours on Thursdays.
Tell me a little bit about your business…
I am an information designer. Basically I make complicated information easier to understand visually. I am also a cartoonist (You should check out some of his work.)
Check out Chris’s business.
What is one important skill every person should have?
They should be able to draw. We are so connected to our electronic devices that drawing helps us create outside what we have in front of us. We aren’t limited by software or a screen and we can create anything we can imagine.
Describe one experience you’ve had where you took a huge leap of faith…
I quit my job a year and a half ago to a launch freelance business without any guarantees. I had good job at a good company but there would always be limitation. Doing creative work in a conservative company is frustrating. I hit a fork in the road where I could do something fun or something comfortable and I wanted to take a risk.
What do you want to see at The Frontier next?
A video recording booth for online webinars and videos.
What kind of pizza would you be?
I’d be half cheese, half everything. I spend a lot of time operating in a very conservative business world but I bring a ton of different design experiences into the conservative mindset. My job requires: graphic design, web design, programming, data analytics, research, evaluation, human centered design, and UXUI design among other things. Half cheese is the market in which I operate…people often are not willing to take risks but they are willing to add a topping here or there.
