9/11 Weekend of Service
September 9-11, Across The Triangle

The 9/11 Weekend of Service is a community-wide volunteer event coordinated by Activate Good with support from Triangle businesses to honor those lost on 9/11 with volunteer service. The weekend will include service projects on Friday, Sept. 9 and Saturday, Sept. 10 and a Commemoration and Service Event on Sunday, Sept. 11.

Tunnel to Towers 5k Run & Walk

Organized by the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation in recognition of the 15th anniversary of 9/11, and honoring those who sacrificed their lives on that day, as well as all first responders and military heroes. Proceeds will benefit the Building for America’s Bravest program, which builds specially adapted homes for injured service members. Featuring food trucks, music, children’s activities, fundraising incentives, teams of firefighters, and more.

25th Annual Dog Olympics
September 10, NC State College of Veterinary Medicine

An excellent opportunity to further socialize well-behaved dogs and an opportunity for families considering adoption to ask questions. Dogs of all breeds, shapes, and sizes are invited to participate in athletic and non-athletic competitions. The Raleigh Kennel Club will operate a free microchip clinic (one pet per family). Rescue groups and shelters will be present, as well as canine health information booths, and food trucks.

The Big Launch Challenge Pitch Event

The goal of The Big Launch Challenge is to foster entrepreneurship by offering education, team creation, mentorship, early-stage prototyping, and potential follow-on seed financing. The business plan competition includes awards totaling up to $30,000 for the winners. The challenge has a total of three rounds, plus a final live event.
