DESCRIPTION:Practical Tools for Inclusive Hiring and Retention\nThis workshop equips employers, supervisors, and HR professionals with practical tools to create more inclusive workplaces for individuals with disabilities. Grounded in the principles of ADA Title I and Universal Design, this session will explore how to effectively recruit, support, and retain employees with disabilities while enhancing accessibility for all.\nParticipants will walk away with answers to key questions such as:\n\nWhat are an employer’s responsibilities under ADA Title I?\nHow can Universal Design be applied to workplace environments and practices?\nWhat are effective strategies for inclusive hiring and onboarding?\nHow can accommodations and supports promote retention and employee success?\n\nThrough discussion, real-world examples, and reflection tools, attendees will sharpen their skills in:\n\nImplementing inclusive recruitment practices\nDesigning accessible workspaces and workflows\nNavigating accommodations with confidence and collaboration\nBuilding a culture of belonging that benefits the entire team\n\nIn an effort to keep this event accessible, we will be offering a hybrid experience for participants. As a former licensed K–12 special education teacher, registered behavior technician, and current staff member within North Carolina State University’s inclusive Postsecondary Education Program, Dr. Wall brings practical and policy-level expertise to both academic and community-based initiatives. In 2022, she co-founded a business that provides employment skill development for young adults with intellectual disabilities through a community-integrated vintage and second-hand clothing shop. Her commitment to the field of special education is deeply informed by her experiences working directly with students, which continue to drive her dedication to promoting evidence-based practices for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.\nWhat’s On The Menu?\nAt Frontier RTP, we are constantly growing, and hope you will come along for the ride! We developed On the Menu as a way of helping you and your business grow to the next level, whatever that next level may be.\nEach month, we offer a lunchtime workshop on a special topic related to small businesses or startups.
